CBT
CBT has many different formats and as therapists, we believe that a compassionate approach is the key to supporting people to live the best lives they possibly can. CBT is aimed at putting you back in the driver’s seat of your mental health by helping you understand how your thoughts impact your behaviour and outcomes, giving you tools and strategies so you can cope better in everyday life. It is one of the most researched and effective approaches in psychology today.
EMDR
EMDR Remember trauma is what happens IN you, not what happens TO you. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy approach, aimed at processing distressing or traumatic memories like abuse or even a birth. The theory underpinning EMDR is that many presenting psychological difficulties are due to one or many distressing experiences which have not been stored in memory the way usual memories are stored, and are believed to be unprocessed or blocked. These traumatic memories may cause less distress if they are processed, and EMDR is one way to do this.
